Art Shows in LA Happening Right Now

Important art shows in LA that are happening now showcase two of most influential artists of our time. At LACMA, we have Alexander McQueen’s first ever West Coast exhibit: Lee Alexander McQueen: Mind, Mythos, Muse and at The Broad, there is Takashi Murakami: Stepping on the Tail of a Rainbow, the artist’s first ever solo show. These exhibits are in their own right once in a lifetime opportunities, and I especially enjoyed seeing the Alexander McQueen one.

The Broad: Takashi Murakami
You might recognize Takashi Murakami from the cover art for Kayne’s top selling album Graduation. Or you may have seen his famous smiling flowers on social media and designer stores. His current show blends his in-depth Asian art history background with psychedelic motifs.

Art is a major part of interior design. Murakami works with lots of different mediums as well and likes to mix 3D with flat pieces.

LACMA: Alexander McQueen

Alexander McQueen’s show gives great insight into the fashion designer’s process and inspiration. McQueen’s fashion shows were ground breaking and many books, including the one that this exhibit is based off of, and documentaries have been produced on him. However, this is the first art shows on his work that is displayed on the West Coast.
